Hello.
I am a glass bead maker and make all of these beads in my sunny studio in Brisbane, Australia. The beads are all handmade so no two are exactly alike so all pieces are unique.
I create jewellery with all the beads that I make. I create pieces that I'd like to wear myself, inspired by fashion or just by the colour of the glass. They can be simple designs using leather, casually worn. Or more formal and special pieces using sterling silver.
The process
I use soda lime glass manufactured in Italy, USA, New Zealand, Germany and China. I start making a bead by melting glass over a very hot flame, using the flame and tools to shape the bead. The bead is then finished by annealing it in a hot kiln. The process to make a bead can be anywhere from 5 minutes to a few hours. I let my beads anneal in the kiln overnight (this helps keep beads strong and long lasting). It's an awesome feeling to open a kiln full of beads the next day.
